Ask any eco-babe what brand of denim she chooses to sport and there’s a good chance that her answer will be Del Forte. The organic cotton jeans company has a huge following due to both its divine fit and its devotion to the environment. Made in the good old US of A, these hiphuggers don’t exactly come cheap, but the truly quality construction makes them a long-term investment that will keep giving you returns, season after season.

The mastermind “behind the jeans,” designer Tierra Del Forte has been working with the blue medium for more than 10 years, so we think it’s safe to say that she knows her denim. After touring factories all over the world and seeing what irreparable damage that the garment industry could have on the environment and workers, she knew she had to start her own company as an example of how a clothing company could make quality goods without harming people or the earth. The result was Del Forte, and from what we see, Tierra accomplished her goal and then some.

A portion of Del Forte Denim’s proceeds go to support the Sustainable Cotton Project (SCP), which has been building bridges between farmers, manufacturers and consumers since 1994. The two forces have pioneered a trail  and redefined high-end eco luxury with the goal of creating demand for certified organic cotton.  Del Forte has also launched an innovative recycling initiative where customers can return their worn Del Forte jeans to be rejeanerated into new looks. The company also boasts an ethical factory which pays fair wages to all of its employees allowing them to maintain their quality of life.
