Measuring only 32 square feet, Read-Nest is a modernist wooden cube that offers a tranquil place to escape and indulge in the pleasure of reading. Danish firm Dorte Mandrup Architects designed this prefab paradise that consists of one door, one window, one skylight, one bed, one table and one shelf. If you can compromise a few extra bedrooms and need a place to get away from your computer screen while being immersed yourself nature, Read-Nest might be the space for you.
Read-Nest is a pre-fabricated structure, so no noise, scrap materials, wood dust or builders are necessary to build it. The tiny wooden box could land in any garden, forest or even an urban terrace, causing very little damage to the environment. Read-Nest is completely made from local and sustainable birch.
Vertical wooden boards were used on the outside and the interiors, including the square shelves and the foldable bed and table were built from the same species of plywood. Its design not only makes it flexible for transportation, its internal features could also be adapted to the owner’s needs and personal tastes while optimizing space.
