Some weeks ago photographer Joshua Nowicki decided to go for a stroll along the frozen shores of Silver Beach County Park in Saint Joseph, Michigan, where he stumbled a series of otherworldly formations in the sand. This intricate sandy landscape, right where the beach meets the water, was full of small 'towers', 'caves' and sandy 'bridges' created by nature itself. The rare phenomenon was so striking, he created a collection of photographs to document and share his find with the world through the Facebook Page EarthSky.
Joshua Nowicki’s photographs taken in February, 2016 reveal an otherworldly landscape of bizarre sand formations.
The layered natural sculptures were carved by the wind eroding frozen sand. The collection of winter sights includes sand castles, bridges, caves, canyons, river valleys and 12-inch towers of varying size, captured in spectacular images.
