Step 1:
Gather your materials: Virgin coconut oil (refrigerate it in warm weather for easier mixing), fine-grained natural sea salt (real seal salt has bonus minerals, and larger crystals are too rough for lips), a small mixing bowl, a spoon, a washed organic lime, a grater or zester, and small containers to put the finished scrub in (re-usable cosmetics or creams containers are great for this, as are recycled glass jars).

Step 2:
Measure out coconut oil and sea salt. Add 2 parts coconut oil and 1 part sea salt to your mixing bowl. For this version, we used 4 tablespoons of coconut oil and 2 tablespoons of sea salt.

Step 3:
Zest a lime (or use essential oil).

Step 4:
Mix all the ingredients together. You can add more sea salt if the scrub seems too thin at this point.

Step 5:
Spoon the lip scrub into a recycled cosmetic pot, travel toiletry container, or re-used glass jar.
Keep refrigerated, especially in a warm climate, as this will keep the coconut oil hard and make it easier to apply. To use, rub a small amount into lips using a circular motion, then rinse away with warm water.
