The next installment of the Batman franchise, Batman vs. Superman, is coming soon, and director Zack Snyder recently previewed the Batmobile’s spiffy new look. Past Batmobiles have been powered by a gas guzzling V8, but word has it that Ben Affleck’s Batman may be greening up his game with a spiffy new mobile powered by a hybrid powertrain.

From the teaser photos that director Zack Snyder released, the next Batmobile will look more like the futuristic vehicle featured in the classic comic book. Compared to Christian Bale’s Batmobile, Ben Affleck’s will be lower and sleeker. And in keeping with the times, the Dark Night may sport a gas-electric hybrid powertrain.

According to unnamed sources that spoke with Jalopnik, the new Batmobile will be a fully-driveable car, but will ditch the Chevy V8s from the past. It’s not clear if the hybrid power train will be part of the Batman vs. Superman movie or if it will just be used to save gas during filming and promotional events. Either way, we’ll be waiting with bated breath for the 2016 movie release, when all will be revealed.
