When you’ve got time on your hands, why not spend some of it thinking about sustainability? The gorgeous line of WeWOOD watches not only keeps you punctual, but are also eco-luxe, made as they are from beautifully finished woods that are either sustainably grown or reclaimed. The watches convey the gentle message that fashion can be sustainable, and also brings a new tree into the world, planted by American Forests. Inhabitat took the versatile Jupiter model for a time-honored test drive -- hit the jump for all the juicy details.
The chunky Jupiter line comes with a dual watch face, with two Miyota movements to let you keep time in your top two destinations.
We chose the fashionable Blackwood watch, since we all know black goes with everything. Blackwood is sustainably sourced from Tasmania, with a dark finish that can vary depending on the time of year it is harvested.
Durable and long lasting, the hardwood allows for the delicate links that make up the adjustable watch band.
With a bold rectangular face, the watch appeals to both men and women, doubling as a bangle bracelet. The watch is easy to set, and its scratch-proof mineral glass makes it perfect for wearing every day without showing any wear or tear. Like any standard fine metal watch, the WeWOOD Jupiter is adjustable, fitting even the smallest wrists.
WeWOOD’s packaging is made from recycled materials, and is also recyclable. Although we loved the Blackwood model, the line comes in a complete line of sustainable and reclaimed hardwoods to fit any wardrobe. For every $120 watch sold, the company plants a new tree, which of course can yield many many more watches in the future.
WeWOOD’s watches are the new heirloom, showing generations to come that sustainable fashion is not only durable, but also worth passing down.
