The emergence of 3D pens has been all the rage over the past few years, but we've been surprised to find that there haven't been many draw-in-the-air doodling mechanisms made for kids -- until now! The 3Doodler Start is a 3D pen made by the company WobbleWorks, especially designed for little hands. The soon-to-be-released product is now available for pre-order, and with very affordable early bird pricing. The toy safety compliant 3D doodler lets children ages 8 and up bring their wildest drawings to life with safe, heat-free, eco-friendly plastic "ink." Watch the video below to see the pen in action!
The 3doodler Start gives hand held 3D printing a whole new look and feel. While there have been some 3D pens made for kids, like the Creo and the Future Make 3D, those devices use gel inks with hardening UV or LED lights, which makes them a little less easy to draw with in the air — the most fun aspect of 3D doodling! This blog’s review of the 3doodler Start touts it as arguably the best kids’ 3D pen on the market today.
The battery-powered device will let your child express his or her creativity for 45 minutes to an hour on a full charge. Since the pen is heat-free, kids can even draw and hold the plastic in their own hands. The plastic does extrude warm out of the pen, but you can rest assured that there’s no fear of being burned. The pen is also ergonomically designed for smaller hands and fingers.
Made with 3Doodler’s own Eco-Plastic, little ones will be able to create inventive shapes with tremendous bend and flex in 15 different bright colors and one glow-in-the-dark variant. Although the Eco-Plastic cannot be recycled back into the pen, it is completely biodegradable in household compost and is made from non-toxic, BPA-free and food-safe materials.
You can pre-order the 3doodler Start kit on their website now. Its official release will be in May 2016.
