We've seen and shared a lot of beautiful, unique and colorful, modern, eco-friendly cribs with you in the past, but so many of them are over $1,000, a price tag that busts many parents' budgets. After all, there are plenty of other things that you need for a new baby, and unless you're co-sleeping, the crib is likely one of the biggest ticket items you'll buy. So we scoured our favorite modern retailers and manufacturers to find six, more affordable, cribs for design-savvy, eco-minded parents. Here are our favorite cribs that cost less than $600, including one priced as low as $299.
Oeuf Robin Crib
Oeuf has several beautiful, eco-friendly cribs to choose from, but most are not so economical. The design team behind Oeuf created the Robin collection to be a more affordable option. And while keeping the cost down, they made sure to maintain the safety, style, functionality and quality the brand is known for. The Robin crib is made from sustainably sourced wood and finished with non-toxic, water-based formulas and designed to convert to a toddler bed with an additional conversion kit ($150). You can choose from two, two-toned varieties – either white and birch or the darker, white and espresso.
Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 Convertible Crib
Grey is one of the trendiest colors for nurseries now and baby furniture manufacturers like Babyletto are answering with grey nursery collections. We love this mid-century modern crib with pretty round spindles, which is available in grey, white or a two-tone white and espresso. The Hudson crib is made from sustainable New Zealand pine and non-toxic finishes. One other great thing about this crib for affordability – the toddler rail for converting it to a toddler bed is included, and it also converts to a daybed.
Nurseryworks Twinkle Crib
With a $3,500.00 lucite Hollis Crib and a gorgeous $2,100 Studio Crib in their collection, Nurseryworks is not known for their budget-friendly buys. But they recently designed a beautiful, affordable option for Target – the Twinkle 3-in-1 Crib. Inspired by mid-century Scandinavian design, this crib’s ends feature a unique quatrefoil design that’s printed on through a toxin-free ink-jet process. The crib is made of sustainable New Zealand pine and finished with non-toxic formulas. Plus, it includes a toddler rail for conversion and can be used as a day bed later as well to lengthen its life.
Argington BamBam Complete Crib Combo
Designed to embody the grace of the art nouveau movement, this crib is made from solid birch and low-VOC birch ply wood that is certified to be free of formaldehyde emissions. But that’s not the coolest thing about the BamBam collection – this combo includes everything you need to go from bassinet to toddler bed. Start with the bassinet that comes with a 1-inch hypo-allergenic mattress pad included. Next convert the bassinet to a crib, and finally convert the crib to a toddler bed – all without buying anything new! The crib also features wheels, perfect if you plan to move Baby from your room to the nursery and back again.
giggle Better Basics Harper Crib
We love Giggle for the amazing curation of modern, sustainable and well-designed products from a variety of manufacturers, but this crib pick is a Giggle original. Available in both natural and walnut finishes, the Harper Crib features clean, classic lines. Made from solid birch and birch plywood, this crib is FSC-certified and is finished with low-VOC, non-toxic, water-based stain. Manufactured by Troll Nursery, it’s built to last and can be converted to a toddler bed with an additional conversion kit ($125).
Spot on Square Eicho Crib
A minimalistic design and an affordable price, landed this eco-friendly crib on our list. The Eicho Crib is made in the USA from 100% recycled/reclaimed, formaldehyde-free MDF with a non-toxic finish. If you want to extend the life of this crib, you can buy an additional conversion kit ($210) to turn it into a toddler bed.
