Climbable bookshelves and mountainous reading platforms could be an incentive for peeling your kids away from their computer screens and inviting them into a world of books. Monterrey-based design studio Anagrama recently completed the installation of Conarte Children’s Library and Cultural Center—a reimagined library with stretches of carpeted surfaces and geometric shelving that inspire literary adventure. Feast your eyes on what could very well be the library of the future.
Anagrama describes the purposeful use of the bookshelves beyond storage, offering as an alternative, a dynamic space to play and learn, to fire the imagination and provide comfort while reading. The angular landscape of the design mimics Monterrey’s well-known and admired topography, providing a unique jungle gym for active play and adventure that’s a refreshing offering in a library environment that typically lends itself to the utmost refinement.
Housed in an industrial warehouse, the library brilliantly reflects the geometric intricacies of its antique surroundings while offering modern lines among its neon rafters and flooring.
