We spotted these cool LED flower lights at NY Design Week and thought the cute leaf-switch detail on the cord was a particularly nice touch. Inspired by the Japanese art of flower arranging the Ikebana lamps are from Light&Contrast, a California-based design studio who pioneer advanced lighting technology. Winners of an ICFF award this year, the flower design is adaptable and flexible and can swivel in different directions or be mounted on a wall.
Not only are the flower-shaped lamps elegant and playful but the LED light source uses what’s called Front Light Optical Waveguide technology. Put simply, this means that light is spread across the underside of the panel which helps it to emit a warmer and softer glow. It certainly seems like a clever lamp: according to the designers, the flower design rests on its stand by pure gravity.
