Your child deserves a learning environment that’s safe, healthy, and free from harmful toxins and chemicals. Sadly, too few schools are green and healthy, but Global Green USA’s Green School Makeover Competition is working to change this. The Global Green USA’s Green School Makeover Competition, a contest co-sponsored by Global Green USA and Pureology, will be awarding one lucky school a grand prize of $65,000 that can be used to renovate their school, along with an additional $65,000 worth of technical assistance. Four runner-up schools will get $2,500 to use towards green school renovations. This is an excellent opportunity for schools to create a healthier learning environment for their students, while saving money in the long-run as green practices, such as energy savings are initiated. You can nominate your own child’s school or a school in your area – read on to find out how.
This contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District Of Columbia, but you must be 18 years of age or older to submit an official entry form. To enter, you’ll need to go online to GreenSchools.Pureology.com and complete the requested entry instructions and create an essay about your school in response to the following three questions:
- Describe your school’s top 3 “Green” challenges.
- In what way would your school benefit from being “Green.”
- Describe your proposal for a Green Makeover project and if it will be used in teaching.
3-5 school photos are also required. The photos should represent school facility; key people involved in the project and if possible demonstrate the green project being proposed or school facility being improved. You may submit an optional video as well. This contest is open now and all entries must be submitted by September 30, 2011.
