Calling all young artists: IKEA just announced their annual Soft Toy Drawing Competition! The competition is an awesome opportunity for little ones (ages 12 and under) to get super-creative with the monsters and animals inside their brains and then watch them come to “life.” Ten winners will have their drawings turned into real-life toys to be sold in IKEA stores in 2017. The really cool part about these special kid-created SAGOSKATT collection toys is that they help out other kids. The winning entries from last year’s competition, which included designs by kids from Thailand, Spain, Turkey, and Canada, will be on sale in mid-November. One dollar from every purchase made up until December 24th of a toy from the SAGOSKATT collection, children’s book, or piece of children’s furniture, will go toward the IKEA Foundation’s efforts to help fund education, athletics, equality, and play-based projects in some of the poorest communities in the world. If you need to stock up on plush toys, books, or other goodies for all the kiddos in your life, what better way than to benefit other kids in the process? As for the drawing contest, kids have until October 30th to submit their drawings. Online voting begins on November 12th, so start priming friends, coworkers, and family to cast their votes and help turn that totally awesome (even though you can’t quite tell what type of animal it’s supposed to be) drawing into a stuffed lovey. Check out this year’s collection before it becomes available (and to read the insanely adorable interviews with the young winning artists). And one thing to note: the competition is open to IKEA FAMILY members, a free loyalty program, so sign up here in order to enter.
