Finding stylish, comfortable and affordable vegan shoes for kids is no easy feat. So when we came across PLAE's collection of hip, eco-friendly kicks for kids, we did a happy dance. While the entire PLAE collection is green, we're highlighting their vegan Ty Sport line, which comes in fashionable color combinations of white/shadow, red/steel and navy/limestone. PLAE's founder and chief designer, Ryan Ringholz used to design shoes for Puma and Diesel, but when he became a father he forayed into designing kids' shoes that could stand the test of heavy-duty play while managing to perfectly supoort developing feet. PLAE shoes are engineered using biometric science typically reserved for elite athletes, so they feel as good as they look. PLAE shoes are also customizable via their one-of-a-kind interchangeable tabs that enable kids to express themselves via a variety of patterns, phrases, hues and graphics to change up their look from day-to-day.
PLAE’s Ty Sport shoes feature recycled moisture wicking lining, an eco-poly recycled air mesh upper for breathability and anti-microbial, anti-bacterial Eco-Ortholite® removable insoles. PLAE shoes are glueless and colors are complements of water-soluable ink. Additionally, the shoes are manufactured in a solar powered, fair labor factory and all of the brand’s packaging is made from recycled paper and plants.
We love that PLAE’s vegan shoes are an awesome choice for vegan families who want their kids to have hip sneakers that are made sans animal products. And one of their best attributes is that they manage to look totally mainstream — but we know they’ve taken great strides to raise the bar and leave a green footprint in the kids shoe market.
PLAE shoes are available in sizes 8-3 and range in price from $49.95-$59.95.
