Think of the Leander Bed as the Optimus Prime of baby cribs. The oft-coveted yet incredibly elusive Scandinavian import isn’t your typical crib-to-toddler-bed twofer: Leander’s molded European beech bed can be configured in five different ways, growing as your own baby grows — and then some.

Available in white wash, white and walnut, the Leander crib-and-mattress combo, which eschews traditional sharp corners for soft, rounded edges, starts off as a raised cot, which can be lowered when your baby gets more mobile. Extracting one side of the crib creates a daybed for toddlers, while removing the second side results in a junior bed. This bed, in turn, can be lengthened to accommodate growth spurts.

“The Leander bed,” notes its makers, “follows the child so he or she does not experience those changes in the environment that can seem insecure in the world of a little child. The bed is constantly the same and can be adapted to the child’s stage in life.”

Talk about showboats in disguise.
