Grimm’s Spiel und Holz Design (simply “Grimm’s” to many toy enthusiasts) has been making beautiful wooden toys since 1978. As you might imagine, they’ve created hundreds of amazing toys in their time, and we’re loving their Leonardo Sticks, which are based on Leonardo Da Vinci’s Self supporting bridge. They work in the same manner as Da Vinci’s original idea: with skill and patience, you can build a bridge or structure that requires neither nails nor rope. A Leonardo bridge (or dome) built correctly will sustain itself thanks to gravity. Once you offer up some information about this amazing bridge idea, your kids will love testing their own bridge or dome construction skills with a set of Grimm’s Leonardo sticks.
Currently, these amazing stick blocks come in three fun sets – rainbow colored (100 blocks), shades of blue and green (40 blocks), and their newest set of monochrome black and white sticks (100 blocks). Grimm’s, a family-owned company, has long been invested in designing eco-friendly and safe toys that are handmade in Germany, and sanded by hand, which gives these toys an authentic look and feel you can’t get with mass produced toys. Grimm’s alder, lime, beech and maple wood used for toys is sourced from sustainably managed forests in Europe, while all the finishing colors and oils the company uses are certified child-safe in accordance with the EN 71 and CPSIA/ASTM 963 standards. Due to small parts, Leonardo sticks are only for kids ages three years and up, but children over this age and adults will love figuring out how to use gravity to build their very own amazing Leonardo structure.
