Mister Alphabet, currently in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign, is so adorable that you’ll want to hop on board to make this educational toy concept a reality. Made in the USA, Mister Alphabet is a cleverly designed figurine who has the ability to bend into every letter of the alphabet, helping to bring the alphabet to life through innovative interplay of figuration and letter formation. Mister Alphabet gets his fun flexibility from a stainless steel stranded core surrounded by thermoplastic elastomer/rubber, or TPE (TPR). Commonly used in medical and health applications, these materials are safe for kids and provide a durable yet soft body. All finishing materials including paint, clothing, and even packaging are required to pass safety standards for children ages 2 years and up, according to ASTM-f963. These tests also include the magnets located in Mister Alphabet’s hands and feet, which aid in the posing of many unique letter configurations.
Mister Alphabet will only become available if the designers can reach their funding goal of $85,000. Most of the money needed to reach production goals will be used for tooling, materials, labor, and sonic welding fixtures to secure the magnets within the hands and feet, as well as the head. The designers note that, “The high costs result from some pioneering efforts to bring several advanced techniques and processes together into a substantial, quality toy.” If you’re interested in helping to fund Mister Alphabet, check out the Mister Alphabet Kickstarter campaign. Depending on the amount you donate, you’ll receive a cool reward such as a Mister Alphabet download, poster, note cards, or even the doll itself.
