Netflix just jumped pretty high on our list of Places We Would Want to Work: the company recently announced that employees can take off as much time as they want during the first year after a child’s birth or adoption. Yup, that means unlimited maternity and paternity leave, and Netflix’s statement details that these new parents will be paid normally during that first year, whether they come back “part-time, full-time, or return and then go back out as needed.” Along with trying to create a work culture that values “freedom and responsibility” Netflix sees this policy as a strategic move, one that will help them garner the most talented employees. Whatever their reasons, we hope this recent spate of more family-friendly maternity and paternity leaves continues to spread.
