Do you love making homemade popsicles with your kids? Do you have a favorite popsicle mold? Although several companies these days are boasting BPA-Free plastic popsicle molds, none of them can rival the stainless steel popsicle molds made by Onyx. Stainless steel is considered one of the safest food storage materials these days, not to mention the fact that these will last forever and they’re easier to use than the plastic molds. This set comes with one stand, 6 molds, 6 lids and 12 removable silicone rings that help ensure proper stick placement. Keep reading to learn about the advantages of stainless steel molds and find out how to use them to make your own popsicles.
Why is 18/8 Stainless Steel Safer than BPA Free Plastic?
For starters, there is little to no FDA regulation in the US of the newest plastics being released. Although green companies are working hard to remove toxins we know about in plastics (BPA & phthalate) recent studies suggest that even plastics marked BPA/phthalate free, may contain harmful toxins when heated in dishwashers, microwaves, or even during every day use.
According a study conducted by Environmental Health Perspectives 95 percent of all plastic products in the study tested positive for estrogenic activity, ie. they can still disrupt your hormones even if they carry a BPA-Free label. Dr. Mercola states, “Even more disconcerting is the finding that BPA-Free plastics in some cases leached more BPA than the non-BPA free plastics.”
