We've seen some pretty creative transforming furniture in our day, but designer Dirk Ploos van Amstel's prototype SEESAWseat/seesawSEAT literally elevates the concept of multi-purpose furnishings to new heights. This sure to please the kiddos contraption may be used as a bench for quieter moments or it can be easily configured into a seesaw (by repositioning three pins and sliding in and out two parts), turning the home front into a veritable playground instantaneously.
A young father himself, van Amstel created SEESAWseat/seesawSEAT from the parental perspective that when the kids are not around, their trappings can be elegantly and discreetly tucked away. But the designer takes this concept a step further by enabling adults to also benefit from what their children play with during the day.
Even the name is adjustable depending on which function is being employed: SEESAWseat/seesawSEAT. van Amstel offers, that his outdoor bench is the kind “that you might settle on with a glass of wine at the close of a summer’s day.” Or more adventurous parents could put that wine in a flask and opt to hop on the seesaw for a swig instead.
