Humanitarian design might not be the first thought that comes to mind when you think of New York Fashion Week, but that’s the angle that wedding dress designer Jill Adams is taking in her debut of an Ebola protective suit prototype. Selected as one of the five finalists in the U.S. Agency for International Development competition for a better disease-fighting suit, the single-piece garment minimizes points of contamination and helps its wearer stay comfortable with a battery-powered dry-air cooling system. The garment will be put on display at a “pop-up lounge” in Manhattan’s The Empire Hotel.
