- Nomad Pizza by JZA+DIt's difficult to imagine that this popular pizza joint was once a gas station. Nomad Pizza replaces a defunct automobile station in Princeton, New Jersey, in a stunning example of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/adaptive-reuse/" target="_blank"> adaptive reuse</a>. Architecture studio <a href="http://www.joshuazinder.com/work/community" target="_blank">JZA+D</a> helmed the conversion project, helping to bring the original 1930's modernist building back to life.1
- Nomad Pizza by JZA+DThe main challenge that JD+Z, experienced in adapting and revitalizing older structures was adapting the existing drive-through service bays and garage doors to the building's new use.2
- Nomad Pizza by JZA+DThe team closed off the bays and portals at the rear with cedar and storefront glazing, and installed specialized doors on the front to best utilize the large garage openings.3
- Nomad Pizza by JZA+DThis also facilitated the connection between the dining area and the exterior spaces, creating an awning-covered patio area used when the weather is warm.4
