Iconic designer Karim Rashid has teamed up with Dupont to design an eco-friendly living space for the future. Unveiled during Milan Design Week, his Smart-ologic residence is made from a range of new Corian eco materials which are composed of recycled material. To showcase the materials and their versatility, Rashid designed everything from the furniture to the bedding to the accessories in organic shapes with his signature bold color palette splashed throughout.

The Smart-ologic residence is designed to showcase the strength and versatility of two new eco-materials, Eco-Terrace which is composed of 25% recycled material and Eco-Concrete, which contains 14% recycled material. Rashid also designed several futuristic products that are displayed within the house like a free form bicycle and a blob-tastic plant stand.

A Jetsons-esque couch and bed are also made from Eco-Concrete. The mattress features a Tyvek covering from Dupont and the couch has swapped traditional textile cushions for more modern silicone gel. Last but not least, Rashid’s Eco-Concrete kitchen is designed as a free standing all-in-one unit with a hand basin with a compost chute built into the center for quick and easy disposal of food scraps.
