A Japanese artist has created an incredibly detailed replica of the Death Star (Mark II) fromReturn of the Jedi using little more than a ping-pong ball! The anonymous artist posted images of the project on his website to show just how much work went into creating this “fully armed and operational battle station”. Just kidding – it’s not armed at all.
The anonymous artist, known as tatumaru5963, said about the intricate model: “It was done by repeatedly cutting the ping-pong ball. To reproduce the internal structure, I finely cut plastic board.” The level of detail is incredible, and while it poses no threat to the Rebel Alliance or the rest of the universe, it does show what can be accomplished with hard work and dedication. Now let’s hope that Han can get that shield down in time for the rebel attack!
