A video has been posted on YouTube of a man riding what appears to be a fully working bicycle… apart from the fact it could probably fit in the rider’s pocket. It’s a good thing he’s wearing a helmet, as he doesn’t look particularly stable – the man’s feet appear to be five times bigger than the pedals! The clip was taken from the video TOPBIKETV, which was shot in Fitzroy, Melbourne in 2005.

As a cyclist, I love being able to weave in and out of the traffic and get to my destination completely under my own power – however I have no idea what to make of this. The video describes the bike as a’Minivelo’and shows a man, dressed in full cycling gear, taking the tiny bike out of his bag and proceeding to ride it down the road.
There’s not really much more to say about the minivelo. I guess it’s handy to keep a bicycle stored in your backpack – but it hardly looks worth the effort. I bet his back kills after a few hundred meters. If you know whether the minivelo is commercially available or the result of a DIY project, please let us know!
