This month, electric vehicles from all over Europe will be competing in the Electric Marathon Tallin-Montecarlo — a 10 day race that aims to promote green transportation by pushing the boundaries of EV technology. To coincide with the marathon’s route through Italy, the organizers of the Monte Alto EV event are set to make it the largest gathering of electric vehicles in the country’s history.
Set to be held on June 8th the Monte Alto event in Desenzano del Garda will feature talks and speakers from the electric transport sector. Visitors will also be treated to the arrival of the vehicles of the Electric Marathon Tallin-Montecarlo, where they can receive further information about the vehicles as well as take a Tesla and Lampo 3 for test drives around the picturesque region.
Scheduled speakers for the event include representatives from Continental AG, Cardesigner, Siemens, ITIS Rossi, Tesla and Giacomo Corti, the Project Manager Electric Mobility of Bosch Italia.
The Electric Marathon’s route on the June 8th will see the vehicles travel from Mogliano Veneto to Desenzano del Garda to Verona before finally arriving at Brescia at the end of the day.
The Electric Marathon 2012 will travel to all the European Capitals of Culture, enhancing the idea of collaborative development of ecologically responsible transportation. The organizers also aim to pioneer the development of the first “green” car route, a fully-equipped charging network for electric-powered vehicles to run from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, from North Europe to South Europe.
Car producers and private owners of electric cars from all over the world will take part in the electric car race. The vehicle will compete over the whole route for technical achievements and at the end of each day, the winning team is awarded a prize while all those who complete the distance get a diploma.
