´Cóm-oda´ is a clever piece of multi-tasking furniture that transforms from an old-fashioned writing desk into a set of six director’s chairs in an instant. Designed by Spanish studio Mr. Simon, the desk is formed from six folding seats made from wood and cotton, which can be detached as needed to provide additional seating for impromptu parties.
Mr.Simon is an experimental design studio run by Aarón Feliú e Ignacio Frías. They are based in the southern Spanish city of Valencia, and they mainly create products and graphics.
For their Cóm-oda bench, Feliú and Frías wanted to breath new life into folding furniture that spends most of its time being tucked away and neglected in hidden corners. This concept is strengthened by the piece’s printed ´antique look´, which gives it a beautiful weathered aesthetic.
