This bar and restaurant space located next to the Pinheiros soccer stadium in Sao Paulo looks like a ship ready to set sail. Brazilian design studio Bacco Arquitetos Associados, who designed the two-level addition, opted for a tensile structure which would cover the restaurant and create protective shade for the visitors. The idea was to do so without disrupting the natural surroundings and existing trees, and the resulting design is really quite spectacular.
The studio was commissioned by the officials of the Sport Club Pinheiros to design an extension of the existing bar, located near the club-owned soccer field. The area was previously occupied by a small kiosk that was later removed. Due to the small size of the site and presence of grown trees, the architects decided to divide the program across two floors. The kitchen operates on both levels of the building, with a little elevator for the dishes connecting them. The upper floor was aligned with the existing bleachers to provide better views of the field.
