According to the hotel’s website, the rooftop park will be a work of art that is as beautiful as it is functional. “In addition to low-maintenance native plantings and an urban farm, Gunn plans to create arbor structures from living willow, weaving them into sculptural shapes that will both block the wind and beautify the rooftop in a unique way.”

The team at Gunn Landscape Architecture is also designing the space around the third-floor pool. In addition to offering countless luxurious amenities and outstanding views of Manhattan, the hotel space will also include more than 20,000 square feet dedicated to event space and 40,000 square feet of retail and office space.
As far as interior design, the hotel launched a competition in 2014 to find a large-scale centerpiece for the large lobby space. Brooklyn-based Marcela Zacarias won the competition and will install her 25′ x 20′ x 3′ three-dimensional sculpture formed in the shape of a giant map of Brooklyn in the lobby.
The hotel’s opening date is scheduled for April 2016.
