Nosh on tasty Filipino delicacies in the Purple Yam’s breezy bamboo-clad garden

The <a href="http://www.purpleyamnyc.com/" target="_blank">Purple Yam</a>'s scrumptious Filipino pan-Asian cuisine is yummy enough as it is, but savoring the dishes in a breezy bamboo-clad garden makes them taste all the more delicious. Located in Brooklyn's Ditmas Park area, the restaurant, designed by <a href="http://www.wxystudio.com" target="_blank">WXY Studio</a>, features a trendy but laid-back aesthetic that lets the food take center-stage. The <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/tag/green-spaces/" target="_blank">garden space</a>'s bamboo accents also serve as a privacy barrier and let diners enjoy incredible plates such as Lobster luglog and Fig ensaymada in an intimate setting.

Purple Yam, ran by Chef Romy Dorotan and his wife Amy Besa, took over their current Brooklyn location from a former 99-cent store.

The restaurant, which uses home-grown and locally-sourced ingredients when possible, has an incredibly diverse menu that has garnered a very loyal following.

In addition to their mouth-watering menu, the owners, along with WXY Studio, have managed to put together a beautifully sophisticated restaurant with a state-of-the-art open kitchen.

The rear garden space, covered by a shading trellis and enclosed with an undulating bamboo face, is a real gem in this bustling Brooklyn area and lets guests privately devour the dishes in peace and quiet.
