Woodn't you enjoy working here? Breaking away from the usual pack of glossy and glassy Midtown Manhattan offices, advertising agency BBDO's warm and inviting headquarters welcome visitors with a sophisticated mix of reclaimed wood and steel. Thanks to New York-based architects HLW International, the large 227,000-square-foot office was transformed into a loft-like space that aligns with BBDO's fresh and innovative take on advertising.
The extensive renovation process required gutting two of the office’s three floors. The process also saw a complete overhaul of existing infrastructure, such as installing new HVAC, electrical and data systems. The designers purposely left the ceilings exposed (skillfully hiding the ductwork) to give the office a modern industrial feel with additional help from the many reclaimed wood and steel highlights located throughout the space.
Once the infrastructure of the office had been put into place, the architects focused on creating open workstations and various collaboration areas. The result is a minimalist, yet spacious and healthful working environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
