It looks like someone’s giving Rockefeller Center a boozy run for its money upstate. Rochester, NY’s Genesee Brewing Company recently erected an impressive Christmas tree of its own made out of hundreds of beer kegs. Built by the brewing company’s industrious employees, the tree was constructed out of 428 stainless steel kegs (128 more than Genesee’s 2014 keg tree) and stands at 26 feet high. Looks like it will be a beery Christmas, after all!
Genesee’s Christmas keg tree cheerfully greets visitors to the company’s brew house facility located in downtown Rochester at 25 Cataract St. To add even more cheer to the large structure, Genesee embraced tradition by stringing festive green lights around the tree.
And just in case you had any thirsty thoughts about helping yourself to a nice frothy one while visiting, the company says all of the kegs are empty and will be returned to the production line after the holidays. But they did serve their Imperial Black IPA aged in Iron Smoke Whiskey barrels at the public lighting ceremony of the tree that took place on December 4.
