He's baaack! After a long hiatus, the famous Chinatown Snowman has returned to the corner of Essex and Canal after this week's winter storm. Passersby in the neighborhood were delighted to see His Frostiness' familiar vegefied face and traffic cone hat, but hopefully today's strong sun won't melt him away too quickly.
Inhabitat editor and LES snowman neighbor Jill Fehrenbacher said: “I am so thrilled to see the big carrot-nosed guy back on the corner! We missed him until now since we didn’t have much snow, but it was with happy tidings that we welcomed His Frostiness back to the corner of Essex and Canal, just in time for the Chinese New Year holiday.”
Even though we’re kind of tired of being cold, we’re willing to brave the frigid temps a while longer so that downtown NYC’s favorite man of snow can stick around.
