The world has witnessed so many instances of the effects of climate change by now that it's hard to believe deniers of the scientifically evidenced phenomenon still exist. Creative directors Cabot Norton and Arturo Aranda decided to call out the ridiculous claims of these ignorant politicians by crafting Climate Inaction Figures in their likenesses. Modeled after high-visibility deniers like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, and John Boehner, the truth-seeking toys take these blinder-wearing public officials to task.
To create the satirical figures, Norton and Aranda enlisted the help of Ridgewood-based artist Nao Matsumoto and the team behind Years of Living Dangerously, a docu-series about the impacts of climate change on communities around the world.
According to the creators of the figures, the idea behind the project was to highlight the absurdity of denying the catastrophic effects of climate change despite the overwhelming evidence that it is a world-wide crisis that’s getting worse by the day. The whole series of figures will soon be available as a free downloadable file for those who would like to 3D-print their own collection.
