Attention all Etsy-holics! Although there's something oh-so-addictive about scrolling through page after page of Etsy in your pajamas, the purveyor of all things handmade is giving us a new and different way to shop our favorite makers IRL. Now open at Herald Square in Manhattan, the first-ever Etsy Shop at Macy's features a curated selection of 50 products from eight Etsy sellers that you can touch and see with your own eyes before you buy. The only downside is that you do need to get dressed first.
Located on Macy’s’ recently renovated lower level, one below, the dedicated Etsy mini-shop is a new way for customers to discover handmade goods. The experimental space was launched as part of Etsy‘s retail partnership with Macy’s through the Etsy Wholesale private marketplace, which connects independent designers with retailers.
“Macy’s Herald Square is one of the most dynamic shopping destinations and retail experiences in New York City,” said Marc Mastronardi, executive vice president/general merchandise manager of Accessories/Center Core for Macy’s. “For designers to showcase their products to a locally and globally diverse customer base in the exciting, selling environment of Herald Square, is an incredible opportunity for both wholesalers and customers. The new Etsy Shop at Macy’s Herald Square is a unique collaboration that enhances the in-store shopping experience for our customers.”
Curated by a team of Macy’s buyers, the Etsy Shop features merchandise from favorite makers like Sol del Sur, Meera Lee Patel, and Modern Mud, with merchandise ranging from jewelry to stationary to home goods. The shop plans to showcase new items every six to eight weeks, with a different theme for each selling cycle.
