If you've ever taken a floral arrangement home from a wedding, you know that they can last for many more days after an event. Realizing what a waste it is to dispose of perfectly good flowers, one budding start-up hatched up a brilliant plan to give event arrangements a second life for a charitable cause. Aptly called Rebloom, the service allows you to log into their website, click to buy discounted flowers from last night's soiree, and have them delivered right to your door. The best part? A large portion of the proceeds from each purchase goes to charity - something we can all smile about.
Anyone looking for a discount floral arrangement can check the Rebloom website to see what’s in stock on any given day. Better yet, sign up for their newsletter and you’ll be notified whenever flowers are available. Rebloom will do all the heavy lifting, picking up the arrangements immediately after a wedding or gala. The bouquets are then rushed to refrigeration (often with their own vases) and delivered promptly to buyers the next day at no extra cost.
The flowers’ original owners will have Rebloom donate to the charity of their choosing. Just this week, flowers were for sale with proceeds going to St. Jude Fight Childhood Cancer, The American Macular Degeneration Foundation, and The Children’s Aid Society.
So far Rebloom has sprouted in NYC, and will be launching soon in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.
