Believe it or not, supermodels eat cookies too. But model-turned-entrepreneur Karlie Kloss is selling hers to feed Hurricane Sandy victims in New York as part of a collaboration with David Chang’s Momofuku Milk Bar. Affectionately named Karlie’s Kookies, the wholesome line of baked treats is fashionably packaged and boasts gluten-free, dairy-free goodness for the vegan cookie-loving philanthropists in all of us.
At $22 a pop for six of these individually wrapped “Perfect 10 Kookies”, the indulgence doesn’t come cheap, but it’s worth it. The ingredient list is nothing to sneeze at and features a “fashionably wholesome” mixture of cocoa powder, almond flour, coconut purée (90% coconut, 10% sugar), pineapple juice, mini chocolate chips, water, baking powder, cornstarch and salt.
A portion of each 5boro Kookie Tin sold is donated to FEED — an organization dedicated to supporting programs that fight hunger and eliminate malnutrition throughout the world — to provide meals to New Yorkers who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. To date, Karlie’s Kookies has donated 39,310 meals to people in need.
