NYC is giving those of us doing home improvements a reason to paint the town red (or brown or green) by offering up surplus colors from the Brooklyn Bridge and other projects for cheap. The NY Times’ Sam Roberts reports that New York’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services is auctioning off the leftover paint through its public surplus website for a little less than $4 for 5 gallons (based on the current bid). The only catch is that you have to buy most of the colors (you can choose from tan, chocolate brown, Pulaski red and aluminum green) in bulk so go ahead and round up any pals who might want to get in on some enamel action. Those who have been looking for a RH120C Mining Excavator will also find themselves in luck as the city is offering one at a low, low starting bid of just $80,000.
