Some of music and television's biggest stars will be coming out to lend a hand (or voice) to MTV's "Restore the Shore" telethon fundraiser tonight. The one hour special will air live at 11PM to support Architecture for Humanity in rebuilding the iconic boardwalk and businesses of Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The special event will be hosted by the cast of the Jersey Shore and will feature performances by the Gym Class Heroes and American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. Unlike most telethons where celebrities answer phones, stars will actually be calling to thank people who have donated from 4PM to midnight. Anyone can make a donation at restoretheshore.indiegogo.com or give $10 by simply texting SHORE to 85944. Indiegogo and Paypal will be waiving all fees for the entire evening. In addition to the MTV stars who will be personally calling generous donors, countless other celebrities will be contributing their personal messages of support including Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, No Doubt, The Jonas Brothers, Bruno Mars, Jay Leno, and many more.
Anyone who donates $25 or more will also receive a “Restore the Shore” playlist that includes 30 songs from the past six seasons of The Jersey Shore. If you miss the broadcast, you can still donate by visiting the MTV Shop online or in Times Square as well as select Modell’s locations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, to buy a “Restore the Shore” t-shirt for $20. All proceeds will go toward the fund.
Architecture for Humanity is the same incredible organization that helped rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and Haiti after a devastating earthquake two years ago. With your help, Seaside Heights will once again be the iconic Jersey summer spot it once was. We can. We will. Rebuild.
