Park(ing) Day began reclaiming parking spots from cars back in 2005 in San Francisco when design studio Rebar transformed a space into a park, and has spread like wildfire. Towns and cities around the world have latched onto the innovation, adding their own creative ideas to the pop-up park roster.

Last year, Bard students transformed a spot into a miniature Shakespeare in the Park, a spot in the Bronx focused their space on alternative street design, Hosh Yoga Park popped up in Greenpoint and Long Island City turned a parking spot into a worm-infested composting lesson.

Get outside New York, and reclaim green space today!
