When it comes to prefab homes, Resolution 4: Architecture proves that sometimes it's best to think inside the box. Known for their sophisticated modular structures, the New York-based firm put the fab in prefab with their expansive, 4,239-square-foot Hamptons retreat dubbed the Swingline.
Located Wainscott, NY, the luxury vacation home is set in a wooded three-acre site, offering an idyllic retreat away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. The home’s six bedrooms, seven baths, media room, pool house, rooftop deck and numerous screened-in porches offer the pinnacle of weekend escape indulgence.
At first glance, the Swingline may look like any other dream-turned-reality wooded retreat. However, the materials used in its construction were all prefabricated, allowing the architects and owners to save on materials and construction costs as they built the dream home using sustainable principles.
The home’s exterior is clad with a honey-hued T&G Clear Cedar siding and Cembonit board, which blends in perfectly with the surrounding wooded environment. Various interior features such as the cabinetry and flooring are made from maple and bamboo panels. Throughout the vacation home, large floor-to-ceiling insulated aluminum clad wood windows allow for optimal natural light to flood the open concept living space as well as provide energy efficiency and savings on heating and cooling costs.
