Summer is just around the corner, and Brooklyn’s MetroTech campus has announced it will be hosting a program of free music, film and sports in Downtown Brooklyn. Activating the MetroTech Commons, Forest City Ratner Companies has curated the [email protected] series to invigorate the community during the warmer months. This year, they’ve partnered with Rooftop Films, World Science Festival, BEAT Festival and the City Parks Foundation to create another summer of fun for area residents and visitors.
For the past 19 years, the BAM R&B Festival has drawn in musicians from around the world, and this year it will be part of MetroTech’s Summerfest. Three films will be played on four screens by Rooftop Films, which will also include live performances. The screens will also be used to broadcast sports events, so that the community can get outside while not missing the game. BEAT festival will bring even more music and live performances to the square.
Aside from music, this year’s Summer @MetroTech will bring science to Downtown Brooklyn. The World Science Festival will host 3D printing workshops, demonstrations in robotics and other exciting scientific installations that will excited and invite the community to participate and exchange ideas.
Finally, the City Parks Foundation is hosting a Putting Challenge, which will raise funds for their free junior golf program. The event will invite everyone in the community to putt for the fun of it.
