We already know about the turmoil that Donald Trump has been causing in Washington, but a new article by Nathan Kensinger at Curbed explores how some of the Trump family’s property in NYC is literally toxic. According to the in-depth writeup, the president and his family control many of the most toxic properties in New York, but what does that mean for the plans to clean up these sites?
Nathan Kensinger has written an excellent report covering the troubling issue, revealing that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in law, owns two properties in Brooklyn that are just now in the beginning phases of their site cleanups. Additionally, the Trump Organization is taking in millions to operate a golf course built on a garbage dump in the Bronx. Kushner is also developing property along an EPA Superfund site – the Gowanus Canal.
The Curbed article goes on to explore just how deep and problematic the issue is. Cleaning up these sites properly is essential to New Yorkers’ health, but the conflict of interest threatens to undermine any efforts to reduce pollution. Check out the entire article at Curbed to find out just how complicated the Trump family’s investments and their impact on the environmental health of New York City really are.
