Looking to shed a few pounds in style? A new gym has opened up on the Upper East Side that uses LED lights, pressure-sensitive floors and black lights to guide people through a funky, disco-like workout that's like stepping into a video game. Called Asphalt Green, the trippy gym employs the state-of-the-art PRAMA system to offer clients some seriously intense and visually stimulating interval training.
Asphalt Green’s “disco workout” utilizes the PRAMA system’s pressure-sensitive walls and floors with integrated LED light and sound. Gym-goers follow the light visual cues for a 45-minute high-intensity circuit training workout where the walls and floor become fierce competitors. It’s a total body workout that claims to burn up to 1,000 calories in one session.
Recently opened this month, Asphalt Green is the first gym in North America to offer the PRAMA system. Although “disco workout” has a nice ring to it, the course is actually called the AG6 workout and is currently held at Aspalt Green’s Upper East Side location.
