New York-based ODA Architecture‘s long delayed cubic building looks like it might finally get off the ground. The project has been stalled for six years, but the crazy cantilevered apartment complex may have finally found a future home in Williamsburg.
With buildings located in Greenwich Village, Crown Heights, Long Island City, Lower East Side, ODA’s signature cubic style is becoming somewhat of a regular feature around the city. Soon, the architects may also claim the corner of Driggs Avenue and North 8th Street for their portfolio if and when “510 Driggs” gets the green light.

Although skeptics may be quick to deem the building’s aesthetic as mere frivolousness, the design is actually quite functional and aims to give tenants a prized amenity in the city: private outdoor space. The stacked rectangular schematic is strategically configured so that each of the 100 apartment units will have a balcony or some type of outdoor space, and at least two exposures for optimal natural light and air circulation.
