Who hasn’t been stuck in traffic and wished that they could simply just hit a button and their car would fly over it? Flying cars have been a fantasy for decades and now they’re finally becoming a reality. Case in point: the PAL-V One is a two-seat hybrid car and gyroplane in one. On the ground the PAL-V One drives with the agility of a motorcycle thanks to its three wheels and patented “tilting” system. When its driver decides that it’s time to go up in the air, all that it takes is a quick trip over to the nearest airfield. The PAL-V One can take off with ease thanks to its single rotor and propeller that unfold from the top of the car. Converting the PAL-V One from an airplane to car is also an easy process that takes about 10 minutes with the push of a button.

The vehicle can fly at elevations below 4,000 feet, which is the airspace available for uncontrolled Visual Flight Rules (VFR) traffic, so you never have to worry about getting in the way of commercial air traffic. To be able to fly it in the US, you only need a Sports Pilot license. The best part is that it has a very short take off and landing capability, making it possible to land practically anywhere.

The PAL-V One can reach speeds up to 112 mph. On the road, the PAL-V One has a range of 750 miles from its gasoline engine and in the air it has a range of up to 315 miles. It runs on gasoline like a conventional car, but there will also be versions that use biodiesel or bio-ethanol.
