Young boys and girls across the world grow up playing with Legos, but for some reason, most of the Lego people — known as “minifigs” — are male. But a growing movement to add more female minifigs is gaining momentum. In April, a Lego user submitted the Female Minifigure Set project to the site LEGO CUUSOO, which lets members submit Lego design ideas for consideration. The proposal calls for creating a new Research Institute of Women Lego set, which would mean the creation of the very first female Lego scientists. No word yet on whether Lego will actually make the set, but so far the petition has gained 37,677 supporters.
