During this year’s ICFFPlywood Office presented Hammy, an outdoor hammock, bench and planter, built together in one sleek piece of outdoor furniture. Set as part of the spectacular Model Citizens show at the Chelsea Art Museum, we couldn’t help but notice onlookers being seduced by the Hammy’s call to just lie down and take a break from all the design hubbub.

Hammy’s design is a compact version of the typical rocking hammock, with an 8.5 powder-coated steel frame, a waterproof and UV resistant mesh sling and decay and insect resistant white oak. Some of Hammy’s details that set it apart from other designs is a planter built into its base and rounded crossbars that double as a bench and a drink holder.

Chicago based Chris Jamison runs Plywood Office, a workshop that designs and produces furniture and custom projects with attention to details and materials.

Hammy is one of three new designs presented in New York during ICFF week together with products and prototypes of over 90 independent designers, students and artists.
