Shipping Container Scraps Worked Into A New Exclusive Line of Furniture in São Paulo

A new line of exclusive furniture made from shipping container scraps recently debuted at <a href="http://www.designweekend.com.br/" target="_blank">Design Weekend São Paulo</a>. The Brazilion shipping container custom builder, <a href="http://www.containit.com.br/containit-en/design.html" target="_blank">Contain[It]</a> invited a group of designers to use scraps from their projects to design new objects. Among the works on display are a lounger chair, lamps, vases, modular shelving, and a table. <a href="http://www.designweekend.com.br/noticias/agenda-dw-containit.html" target="_blank">Contain[It] Furniture</a> was on display over the weekend in Victor Civita Square.

<a href="http://www.containit.com.br/containit-en/design.html" target="_blank">Contain[It]</a> is a Brazilian company that takes discarded shipping containers and turns them into new spaces.

They are dedicated to zero waste in the construction process and have been saving scraps from their projects.

To use up these scraps they invited a group of designers to come up with unique furniture and objects.

The result are modern, yet industrial pieces painted in bright popping colors that speak just as much about good design as material reuse.

Contain[It]'s exclusive designers include SuperLimão Studio, Nada Se Leva, Camila Sarpi, Thomaz Bondioli and Diana Albuquerque.

Brazil's <a href="http://superlimao.com.br/contact" target="_blank">SuperLimão Studio</a> came up with the idea for modular shelving using the corrugated metal to create square stacking blocks.

São Paulo-based <a href="http://www.nadaseleva.com.br/" target="_blank">Nada Se Leva</a> designed the rolling corteen steel and glass coffee table.

<a href="http://www.camilasarpi.com/home_en.html" target="_blank">Camila Sarpi</a>, a Brazilian jewelry designer, is responsible for the jewel-toned interlocking vases.

Holland-based industrial designer, <a href="http://www.lotastudio.com/" target="_blank">Thomaz Bondioli</a> crafted the lighting fixtures.

And finally Portuguese architect and designer, Diana Albuquerque created the reclining lounge chair.
