Solar-powered Suite GO prefab was constructed in just 10 weeks

Barcelona-based <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/noem" target="_blank">NOEM</a> architecture studio designed and built a modern <a href="http://inhabitat.com/environment/solar-power/" target="_blank">solar-powered</a> timber home that took just a day-and-a-half to pop up on-site. Named Studio GO, the beautiful prefab was built in just 10 weeks of construction time and was designed with a minimal environmental footprint. The cozy 29-square-meter prefab home is powered entirely by solar energy and boasts an Energy Efficiency A Rating.

Designed in five weeks, Studio GO comprises two prefabricated modules: a 23-square-meter SPACE module for the living areas, and a compact 5.9-square-meter technological HUB for all the mechanical systems.

The modules are transportable—the house can moved with just one truck—and do not need deep foundations.

Multiple glazed openings pour natural light into the wood-lined interior, which is outfitted with modern rounded furnishings that match the look of the home.

The house was created with passive design principles to minimize energy consumption and includes highly efficient insulation and monitoring equipment.

“Thus we achieve our objective of limiting energy demand to 15 kW per square meter a year for heating,” writes NOEM. “[Studio GO also] saves up to 90% of energy consumption compared to conventional buildings of the same size.”
