Have you ever wanted to play loud music in your house, but were annoyed by the fact that the sound’s intensity gets lower when your ‘voguing’ gets you too far away from the speakers? With Sony’s new release, an energy-efficient LED bulb that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, the sound comes from above and creates a simple-to-install surround-sound experience anywhere you have a light fixture.

The bulb can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth, which enables the user to remotely control the volume as well as the bulb’s brightness. This light-and-sound combo allows the installation of speakers where they wouldn’t have been able to be placed previously.

The 360-lumen bulb creates a great sound compared to small speakers but doesn’t come cheap. The bulb, which will be available in Japan after May 23 and eventually make its way to the U.S., will initially cost around $200. That’s quite an investment for such a combo, but it does seem like a lot of fun.
